Disney+ Hits 86M Subscribers, Promises New Shows

Popular streaming-service Disney Plus tops more than 86-million subscribers in the first 13-months since its launch.

CEO Bob Chapek says the company didn’t expect to reach this milestone until 2024, adding that the service has surpassed their “wildest expectations.”

He predicts the app will grow even further in the coming months, as it’s slated for launch in other international markets. And it popularity is expected to grow.

Chapek said they will be debuting a slew of exclusive Disney Plus series over the next few years.

The Marvel and “Star Wars” franchises will each be getting roughly 10 spin-off shows, while a heap of new Pixar and Disney films are also on the way.
