Digitized Water Meters Amarillo

Seventy-Thousand water meters are being upgraded in Amarillo.

Phase one of the operation started last week and consisted of 1,065 addresses being upgraded.

The upgrades will modernize 1, 065 addresses, and additional addresses will be added in the coming months.

In 2021, the Amarillo City Council approved a 29.5 million dollar loan from the Texas Water Development Boards to pay for the installation of the digital water meter systems.

The project should be completed by 2024.
