Deadly Crash in Downtown Amarillo

The Amarillo Police Department is investigating a fatal crash from last weekend. 

Officers first reported this crash at SE 3rd and Buchanan street on Saturday, March 18th at 7:28 pm. 

At that time, a GMC pickup sped through a stop light and collided with a Ford Sedan that was traveling north of Buchanan street. 

Both drivers were sent to a local hospital, with the driver of the pickup suffering non-life threatening injuries, while the driver of the Ford Sedan, 42-year-old Laura Sanders, was pronounced dead due to injuries sustained. 

Justice of the Peace has since ordered an autopsy, as this incident remains under investigation by APD’s Traffic Investigation Unit.
