Dallas Cowboy Free Agent Update

(Frisco, TX) — The franchise tag is officially on Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott. The team made the move this morning making him the eleventh quarterback in NFL history to ever be tagged. It means he will be paid about 33-million-dollars for 2020. The two sides are still trying to work out a long-term contract extension.

(Frisco, TX) — Wide receiver Amari Cooper is remaining with the Dallas Cowboys. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports Cooper has reached a five-year, 100-million dollar contract extension with the Cowboys after he became a free agent and they used their franchise tag on quarterback Dak Prescott. The four-time Pro Bowler was acquired from the Raiders for a first-round pick midway through the 2018 season and instantly provided a boost to the Dallas offense. Cooper caught 79 passes for almost 12-hundred yards and eight touchdowns last season.

(Miami, FL) — The Miami Dolphins are making Byron Jones the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL. ESPN reports the two sides have agreed to a five-year deal worth 82-and-a-half-million-dollars. Jones was a first-round pick by Dallas in 2015 and started 73 of 79 games played with 43 passes defensed. He has played both safety and corner in his NFL career. Despite having just two career interceptions, Jones grades out as one of the top cover corners in the NFL. The Cowboys focused on tagging quarterback Dak Prescott and re-signing receiver Amari Cooper, instead of bringing back Jones.
