Dalhart Man Leads Police On High Speed Chase

A Dalhart man has been arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase from Dalhart through Moore County on Thursday.

The Hartley County Sheriff’s Office states that a deputy attempted to stop a car on the south side of Dalhart after it passed an officer on a traffic stop. The vehicle did not slow down as required by state law when passing an officer on an active stop.

The vehicle did pull over but then the driver decided to drive off. The vehicle headed east towards Cactus at speeds averaging 130 miles per hour.

Moore County Sheriff’s Deputies responded and deployed spike strips before the car reached Highway 287, bringing the car to a stop with all four tires flat.

The suspect, Alex Lane Galla, 21, of Dalhart, was taken into custody.

No one was injured. Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted during the chase.
