Crews Take On Wild Fire South Of City

Firefighters battled a Wednesday afternoon blaze south of Amarillo.

At 3:45 p.m flames were reported near the Claude Highway and South Osage Street.

The fire burned 10 acres of open grass, no structures burned; but 10 people west of the fire were evacuated as a precaution.

The Texas A&M Forest Service said the fire stands at 60% containment and Randall County fire crews are still on scene.

A cause has yet to be determined.
