It all started on Sunday afternoon during the Dallas/Green Bay game. Former President George W. Bush and Ellen Degeneres were shown in a suite, sitting side by side and laughing together. Maybe some people were just mad in general about the way the Cowboys’ game went, but twitter erupted. Some was positive, but much was not. Please read the report below and see the video above from Fox News.
Ellen DeGeneres has taken a stand against her critics on Twitter who slammed her for attending Sunday’s Cowboys-Packers game with former President George W. Bush.
Many of her fans were upset about a photo showing her and Bush sitting together in a suite at AT&T Stadium in Dallas. Ellen addressed the backlash when she opened her show on Monday explaining that President Bush is a “friend” even though they may not share many of the same views.
She said, “People were upset. They thought, why is a gay Hollywood liberal sitting next to a conservative Republican president?… A lot of people were mad. And they did what people do when they’re mad… they tweet.” She added, “We’re all different and I think that we’ve forgotten that that’s okay that we’re all different… but just because I don’t agree with someone on everything doesn’t mean that I’m not going to be friends with them.”
Ellen then shared a tweet from a fan that she loved which read, “Ellen and George Bush together makes me have faith in America again.” (Fox News)
