Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Adds Two WTAMU Grads to Program

Two West Texas A&M University graduates are among a handful of young Latino leaders from across the nation getting ready to take their skills to Washington D.C.

Michelle Galdamez and Madeline Kleinschmidt along with 24 other graduate and undergraduate students, will be a part of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute for 2022.

CHCI provides leadership, public service, and policy experiences to outstanding Latino students and young professionals. Both Galdamez and Kleinschmidt have been seen as some of the absolute best during their time at WT as part of the McNair Scholars Program.

Their appointments will be from August to next May, with them working Mondays through Thursdays learning all aspects of public policy and working on projects to advance issues.

Fridays however will be designated for leadership building under CHCI’s four Pillars of Leadership: Civic Engagement, Social Responsibility, Self-Empowerment, and Promoting Community and Hispanic Culture.
