COA City Council Meeting Agenda An Interesting Mix
The regular meeting of the Amarillo City Council appears to be front-loaded with what could be time-consuming discussion items such as updates from Center City, Street Department Operations & Maintenance, and follow up on the recent Independence Day Plus +1 event.
The long-awaited forensic analysis report on the accounting of the 2016 Prop 1 Bond funds results is noted among the Discussion Items. That presentation will be given by Assistant City Manager, Floyd Hartman.
The council will also hear the requested recommendations and alternative proposals from the Charter Review Citizen Committee concerning the amending of Amarillo’s city charter.
Included among the Consent Items on Tuesday’s agenda is the awarding of $225,000.00 for a one year agreement with CMMS CPA’s & Advisors, LLC for audit services for the city, to be funded by a handful of various COA related budgets.
A 7.6 million dollar street maintenance contract is expected to be awarded to Intermountain Slurry Seal, Inc. for cape seal and microsurfacing projects throughout Amarillo. This was identified and budgeted for during the FY 23/24 session and funded through street bonds.
Council is also scheduled to consider ordering a special election for November 5, 2024, which most likely involves the Sanctuary City for the Unborn ordinance. The changes to the City Charter are also expected to be placed on that ballot.
