City of Amarillo Parks and Recreation Department Announces Summer Changes

The City of Amarillo’s Parks and Recreation Department announced Friday that there would be several changes for the summer season.

Outdoor public pools that are part of the City’s Parks & Recreation Department will be closed for the summer season along with the cancellation of Summer recreation programs.

Staying in line with the executive orders from the office of Governor Greg Abbott, the indoor pool at the Warford Activity Center will open on May 18 including Splash pads pending additional guidance from the governor’s office.

The Amarillo Zoo will also open on May 18, with social distancing protocols and related guidelines.

Parks and Rec staff will continue to work with the Amarillo Independent School District to provide lunches for the summer lunch program.
