City of Amarillo Hosts State of the City

The City of Amarillo held the annual State of the City Wednesday morning with a panel of speakers discussing current topics in our city.

Amarillo Mayor Ginger Nelson spoke, saying that the 3 biggest things that the City needs to work on for the community are Parks, Broadband and the Streets.

Rich Gagnon, COI for the City said once council approves the Broadband plan at the next council meeting, Broadband will start being available to students before the end of the year.

Mayor Nelson also addressed the myths going around social media about the November election, and others.

Other topics that were talked about included: the City’s response to Covid-19, the newly approved Parks and Recreation Master Plan and the recent increase in shoots in our area.

The Mayor ended the address by telling residents that if you have any question or want to talk with the city send a email “public communication at amarillo dot com”.
