City Council Special Meeting; Swearing-In

The Amarillo City Council will have a short meeting at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, to swear in the new mayor and council members.

Cole Stanley will begin his tenure as the next mayor with Don Tipps and Tom Scherlen taking the oath and filling the seats for Place 2 and Place 3 respectively. Runoff elections will be held next month to fill Places 1 and 4. While Place 1 will remain open until then, Howard Smith will continue in Place 4.

Remarks by the outgoing mayor and council members will be shared ahead of the newly elected officials taking the oath of office. Following their swearing-in, Mayor Stanley and council members Tipps and Scherlen will be provided the opportunity to share their remarks.

The benediction will be given by former Amarillo mayor, Trent Sisemore.
