Child Dies In House Fire

The Amarillo Fire Department was called to a 2 alarm fire on  Southeast 11th Avenue and South Johnson Street at 12:20 pm.

Crews tried to bust into the home and rescue a 4-year-old child, but heavy smoke prevented them from completing the task

The 4-year-old child perished in the blaze.

The fire was considered under control just before 1:00 p.m. and The Amarillo Police Department’s Special Crimes Unit is on the scene, as well as the Fire Marshal’s Office.
