Changes in FDA Regulations Make Coffee Memorial Hopeful For An Influx of Donors

The Federal Drug Administration recently changed guidelines regarding blood donors which Coffee Memorial Blood Center hopes can assist in our ongoing blood emergency.

For the past 20 years, travelers who had spent time in Europe were prevented from donating due to the theoretical risk of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, more commonly known as “mad cow disease”.

The FDA began the guidance transition in 2020, but the recent adjustments made the exclusion unnecessary.

Coffee Memorial urges anyone that is eligible to please donate blood to help during this crisis.
