Beginning September 1st, Amarillo youth and young adults will have the opportunity to strive for a better life.
Youth Recovery Community program at Cenikor this a free program that provides a safe and sober environment for those between the ages of 13-21 in recovery from substance use disorder.
“Maintaining sobriety is difficult, and relapse is common, but no one has to do it alone,” expresses Carla Merritt, Senior Prevention Manager of Cenikor. “Every young person is worthwhile, so we are here to offer attention, support and acceptance.”
They will be able to join support groups, help in volunteer opportunities, and have academic and employment support to help lead successful lives.
The program also offers recreational activities.
“It’s critical that we help young people understand the rewards of maintaining a sober lifestyle. Especially in times of crisis,” adds Bill Bailey, President and CEO of Cenikor. “Practicing recovery in a group setting has proven to be an effective way to do that.”
