Car Fire Spreads To Apartment Complex

A car fire spread into an apartment complex on South Bell Street on Friday.

Amarillo Fire personnel say a woman turned her car off and noticed smoke coming from it in front of the Red Oak Apartments.

She went into the apartments and coming back noticed the whole car was engulfed in flames and AFD says the fire originated from the engine.

Damage was sustained to the carport and several window blinds to a first-floor apartment had been melted by the blaze.

No injuries are reported and the blaze is considered a second alarm because it was at an apartment complex.
