Canyon Wastewater Spill

Canyon city officials said they contained a wastewater spill Friday.

Roughly 100 thousand gallons of untreated wastewater spilled onto dry land at 7:00 a.m. at south Western and County Road 283.

A force main blowout caused the spill.

No part of the wastewater reached any natural waters or impacted the drinking water supply.

The spill was contained at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality was notified of the situation and is working with the city to minimize environmental impacts.
