Canyon And Amarillo Have Plans With Remaining ARPA Funds

Canyon and Amarillo have decided their budgeting plans for the remainder of their American Rescue Plan Act funds.

The ARPA was passed to assist during and after the pandemic, and both cities still have funds left for projects.

Amarillo received close to $40 million in relief, and after the second half of around $19 million was received, funds were allocated to various divisions, including Senior Citizen Support, emergency departments, park and neighborhood improvements, and homeless reintegration.

Canyon received about $4 million and has set the money for improving utility infrastructures for water and wastewater.

The deadline for these funds to be accounted for is the end of 2024 and must be fully spent by the end of 2026.
