Cactus Nazarene Ministry Gets Grant for Immigrants

The Cactus Nazarene Ministry has received a grant to help immigrants with legal services.

The grant comes from the Texas Bar Foundation. The Department of Justice has recognized the group earlier this year to provide services like renewing green cards and work permits as well as applying for citizenship.

Other than Catholic Charities, the Nazarene Ministry is the only group to offer these services the grant will fund three part-time translators in Spanish, Arabic, and Burmese to help immigrants study and apply for citizenship in their native language.

The Center will also provide GED Classes, after-school programs and ESL classes.

Two trained representatives have been hired for the Arabic and Spanish communities.

They plan to hire someone for the Burmese community by January.
