For the many who use the free buses to get around the city, the next few months will show upgrades to some of the stops.
Amarillo City Transit is installing new bus shelters along some of the routes.
The updates come as a part of the Transit Amenities Replacement project, which will replace 7 structures with newer shelters with an open front, weather protection, and solar-powered lighting.
These new shelters will also have bench seating and new trash receptacles.
Another aspect of the updates is to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, which will affect 13 locations.
Further updates to stops are not planned but will continue to be monitored when necessary.
