Boy Arrested After Returning To Scene Of Shooting

A boy has been arrested and accused of aggravated assault from a Tuesday morning shooting.

Amarillo Police were sent on a shots fired call at 12:17 a.m. Tuesday at 7th and Mirror streets, and on arrival they found the victim in the driver seat of the car with a lower body gunshot wound.

Further investigation showed that another boy in the backseat of the car fired the gun that hit the driver.

The suspect had originally run away, but later returned.

He was booked into the Youth Center of the High Plains on the aggravated assault charge.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

APD’s Juvenile Justice Unit is carrying on an investigation.
