Borger Shooting Suspect Identified

Borger Police have identified the man accused of shooting an officer at a Borger home, Monday night.

Thirty-eight-year-old Gerardo ‘Jerry” Rodriguez is looking at charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a police officer and also aggravated assault against a family member.

The incidnet started out as a call on a domestic dieturbance on Yows and Haggard Streets, and Borger police say Rodriguez was holding a family member as a human shield.

One of the responding officers was hit twice by Rodriguez and police returned fire, but didn’t strike him.

The officer received non-critical injuries and the second shot hit him in a bullet-proof vest, he was taken to the hospital for treatment

He was evaluated by the Emergency Room staff after being treated for a bullet wound to the arm
