BHM Charles. S. Johnson

KGNC is celebrating Black History Month all during February.

Charles Spurgeon Johnson (1893-1956), the president of Fisk University, an HBCU, was recognized for his scholarship in Sociology before assuming leadership at the University in 1946.

As head of the school’s Sociology Department, Johnson conducted studies on economic and social factors that produced a racist culture.

Following World War 2, Johnson helped in the reorganization of Japan’s education system.
