BHM Carter G. Woodson

KGNC is celebrating Black History Month.

Carter G. Woodson 1875-1950 founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History in 1915.

Woodson’s motivation was to recognize the contributions of African Americans to society, something that traditional historians and writers either suppressed or ignored because of racial bias.

In 1926, Woodson started Negro History Week, which would later become Black History Month in 1976.

With this tribute to Black History Month< I’m Chuck Williams for KGNC
