BHM A. Phillip Randolph

A.Phillip Randolph (1889-1979) is renowned for his labor organization efforts and ability as a spokesperson for Civil Rights.

In 1925, He organized the Brotherhood Of Sleeping Car Porters, which would become a powerful African-American political entity.

Randolph was the first to make a serious effort to organize a union for the employees of the Pullman Company, one of the largest employers of Black Americans in the nation.

Because of his efforts, a new contract was signed in 1937 that included 2 million dollars in pay increases, a shorter workweek, and overtime pay.

Celebrating Black History Month, I’m Chuck Williams
