Bait Catches Auto Burglar in the Act

The Panhandle Auto Burglary and Theft Unit teamed up with the Amarillo Police Department First Watch in an effort to catch a thief.

Success was found on March 10th at 4 AM when bait left by the police was stolen.

The burglar was followed back to his home on S Osage, and a search warrant was quickly obtained.

The search resulted in finding two stolen guns, two stolen catalytic converters, and various stolen tools. 

Juan Manuel Saliva, age 36, was arrested for tampering with evidence, burglary of a motor vehicle, and unlawful carry of a weapon, and is currently booked in Potter County Detention Center. 

The investigation is still ongoing.
