AT&T Providing Services for Amarillo’s Broadband Network

The City Of Amarillo has been working on a plan to connect the city with broadband to connect low-income and low-internet families.

They have decided that the vendor for the internet will be AT&T, and will be connecting homes, apartments, government buildings, and businesses north of Amarillo with Fiber Optic cable, providing 100 MB upload and download.

The plan will come at no cost to citizens needing financial help, in an effort to reduce the digital gap.

There are many parts of the city that have no internet connection or don’t meet broadband standards.

Funding for the project is coming from the American Rescue plan Act, and the first part of the plan is to provide connectivity within 6 months.
