Atmos Energy wants to remind you on August 11th that there is a safe and effective way to protect yourself and your property from damaged lines – by calling 811.

8/11 serves as an annual reminder for individuals to contact 811 and have underground utility-owned lines located and marked before any digging project starts.

811 connects homeowners and contractors to a local call center that notifies utility companies of the intent to dig, and then sends professionals to mark lines with paint or flags.

Striking an underground utility line such as a natural gas pipeline can lead to serious injury or repair costs, so avoid the hassle and call the right people.
