Atmos Energy Shares Winter Guidelines

As the days get colder, Atmos Energy is offering tips to conserve energy, as well as keep you and your family safe during the winter months. 

Never use a stove or oven to heat your home, protect gas meters from snow and ice, and remove snow from gas vents. 

Minimize the risk of frozen pipes by letting water lines drip, leaving cabinet doors open, and keeping external doors and windows closed to keep heat inside the home. 

Lower thermostats to 58 degrees when not in the house, keep water heaters to normal or lower heat and use the sun to your advantage by opening south-facing windows to absorb the daytime warmth. 

And as always, if you smell gas, leave the area immediately and call both 911 and the atmos emergency line at 866-322-8667.
