Arbor Day Celebration
A special Arbor Day celebration is scheduled for Ellwood Park in Amarillo.
Five Bur Oak trees will be planted in Ellwood Park with students at St. Mary’s Catholic School participating in the National Arbor Day celebration,
Organizers detailed that the tree planting ceremony starts at 2 p.m. on Friday in Ellwood Park, located at 1100 S. Jackson St., and the city’s Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to attend the event. Notably, two trees were donated by Arborlogical Inc.
The park was selected to get the trees because of the loss of 35 trees due to age and breaks in the irrigation.
The organizers of the event say the student body at St. Mary’s will have the opportunity to learn about the history of Arbor Day, along with the right techniques to plant trees. also, the students will have the chance to assist city council members and PARD board members in planting new trees.
