APD’s Crack Down On Street Racing

Three people are behind bars and multiple citations were issued in an Amarillo Police Department reckless driving and racing prevention operation in July.

The APD Traffic Investigation Unit conducted the operation during which officers wrote 37 citations and two warnings for speeding and traffic violations.

Two people were arrested for racing, and one person was arrested for reckless driving and two other people were arrested for warrants.

The Amarillo Police Department wants to remind you that racing on city streets is dangerous and illegal. 

20 people have died from 19 accidents on Amarillo’s streets, up from 2019’s numbers of 16 deaths in 15 accidents at this point.
