APD To Increase Patrols During Holiday Weekends

To help keep our community safe, The Amarillo Police Department will be out in force over the Christmas weekend.

Thanks to the STEP Grant, courtesy of the Texas Department of Transportation, extra patrol officers will be out concentrating their enforcement efforts on impaired drivers, speeding violators, distracted drivers, and seat belt/child restraint violators.

So far this year, we have had 28 fatal accidents in Amarillo resulting in 28 deaths which is well above the average when compared to other cities our size.
