APD Shooting Update

The Amarillo Police Department has released the names of the two people killed in an officer-involved shooting.
The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Andrew Scott Norton and the woman who died has been identified as 38-year-old Isidra Clara Castillo.
The police-involved shooting occurred Sunday night at Northeast 9th and North Grand Streets.
What caused the police stop was the license plate on the vehicle did not match the car it was on.
The driver was taken out of the vehicle, and because three people were in the car, additional officers were called in.
An officer was speaking to a backseat passenger, and the driver got out of the car and pointed a gun at the officers.
They returned fire and shot him and struck a front seat passenger. The front-seat passenger later died at the hospital.
The shooting is still under investigation by the APD Homicide Unit.
