APD Hosting National Night Out This October

The Amarillo Police Department announced they will again be celebrating National Night Out on Tuesday, October 4th.

The event is hosted annually by the National Association of Town Watch and aims to get neighbors to leave their front porch lights on showing their support for their local police departments.

It also encourages individuals to get out of their houses and meet other neighbors in the area and get to know them, with the thinking being that a well-connected community is a safer community.

You are encouraged to host block parties between 6 pm and 9 pm, and it will give people the chance to meet their local law enforcement officers.

For information or organizing a National Night Out party in your neighborhood, contact the Crime Prevention Unit at 806-378-4257.
