APD CIRT Team Called Out For Domestic Violence Incident.

A man is behind bars following a  domestic violence incident.

Amarillo Police officers were sent to a home in the 1100 block of South Western Street at 10:41 pm Tuesday night.

A caller, a 43-year-old female, told officers that the suspect, 36-year-old Trey Allen Widner, had assaulted her and that two children were still in the residence, and that Widner had access to firearms and had threatened to have a shootout with police.

Law Enforcement spoke to the suspect who refused to exit the residence or let the children leave.

Because of the possible danger to the children, the Amarillo Critical Incident Response Team was called to assist.

On June 7th at 3:13 AM, APD CIRT team members took Widner into custody and he was booked into the Potter County Detention Center for Assault Family Member with a Previous Conviction and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
