APD Adding State-of-the-Art Upgrades

The Amarillo Police Department is set to receive some state-of-the-art crime fighting upgrades.

The fifth floor of the department is being converted to the Real Time Crime Center, and officials expect the new tech to be fully operational by December of 2023.

Officers will have access to a collection of video streams, automatic license plate readers, data integration and drones to help them better suppress crime in the area.

The information gathered will be shared across both Randall and Potter county with the hopes of making communities safer.
