Amarillo’s Santa Fe Depot Adds On

The Santa Fe Depot is adding on a new addition.

The City of Amarillo is planning on putting in a roof-covered pavilion on the grounds.

The so-far unnamed space will be complete by the fall in time for the WRCA rodeo.

Beth Duke, the Executive Director of Center City Amarillo says the new pavilion will maintain the historical architectural details of the original building, and in the spring a concrete floor will be poured to make the space diverse and friendly.

The depot is expected to be a major attraction to downtown Amarillo visitors, with the possibility of a major venue for entertainment, food and because it closeness to downtown.

Electricity and water are planned to make it more accessible for any special event the city plans to hold.

Some of the ideas for the new space include a food truck court, a concert area, community activities and a place for the Community Market
