Amarillo’s First Film Commissioner

Amarillo has its first film commissioner.

Sherman Bass will take on the responsibility of bringing more of the filmmaking industry into the Panhandle

Right now, he’s working on getting permits, databases, and a directory to make the process easier for producers to wade through.

Like other big cities like New York, Washington D.C, and Boston, Amarillo is following in the same footsteps by putting together its own film commission.

The economic impact will have a major impact across all facets of the local economy like hotel stays, restaurants, and shopping for equipment and supplies. Not to mention hiring local labor.

Bass’s goal is to create a Hollywood in the High Plains.
