Amarillo Zoo Welcomes New Member

There is a new resident at the Amarillo Zoo.

Quill “Porky” Smith is a North American porcupine, who is four-to-five years old.

He came to the Amarillo Zoo on January, 31st after being shot in the wild, resulting in the loss of his left leg.

The staff at the Wild West Wildlife Rehab Center helped Quill recover from his injuries, as he now calls the Amarillo Zoo his new home.

Considering his injury, Quill is remarkably mobile on the ground. He is living in a temporary enclosure while Amarillo Zoo staff prepare his new permanent home.
