Amarillo Schools Enrollment Decline Solutions

Amarillo schools are looking into new ways to spur their enrollment numbers.

The AISD reports that their enrollment numbers peaked in 2015, and since have shown a ten percent decline.

The school district is planning on making changes to increase enrollment.

A workshop, recently attended showed, Covid 19, A birth rate decline, and access to alternative learning as being the culprits to the decline.

The school system is looking at factors such as increasing extracurricular activities, advanced education strategies, new technologies, and AmTech to bolster enrollment number.

Amarillo school leaders also say the Thrive Scholarship is also an incentive to increase enrollment because, once a student graduates from the AISD They can get two years of free education at Amarillo College.
