Amarillo Sales Update

During Tuesday Afternoon’s City Council Meeting, an update was given on sales tax collection so far this year.
Director of Economics Andrew Freeman says that across all their industries, everything is up compared to this time last year.
In two of the bigger categories, the food industries have seen a 4% increase and manufacturing is seeing a 14% increase compared to last year.

Right now there hasn’t been a noticeable impact with the closing of Toys R Us and sears soon closing as well.
