The Amarillo Public Library is teaming up with Culture City to make the Southwest Branch Library sensory inclusive..
Medical professionals will train library staff on how to recognize library users with sensory needs and how to handle a sensory overload situation.
The sensitivities can be experienced by those with autism, dementia, PTSD and other similar situations.
Prior to attending an event at the library, Kulture Klub can assist the families with a free app where they can view what sensory features are available and where they can access them.
They can also access the Social Story, providing a preview of what to expect when visiting the library.
