Amarillo Mayor Ginger Nelson Sets Executive Order

Staying in line with Governor Abbott’s executive order, Amarillo Mayor Ginger Nelson has declared a local disaster.

As of Saturday at 12 am, residents are asked not to dine in at any restaurant and bars or visit gyms and massage parlors unless it offers a drive-up or delivery service. 

The order states that the Mayor may amend these restrictions as necessary to respond to evolving circumstances of this outbreak during the duration of the Disaster Declaration and any extension thereof by the City Council of the City of Amarillo.

Businesses that violate this order will face a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 or 180 days in jail.

Every hour or part of an hour that a violation occurs or is allowed by a restaurant, bar, gym or massage business in violation of this order shall constitute a separate offense.
