Amarillo Fires

The Amarillo Fire Department has been busy the past week, putting out fires in buildings and one outside fire in a little less than 24 hours.

On Tuesday, November 22nd at 5;12 p.m. crews had to go put out an outside fire at North Mississippi.

First responders arrived and found a homeless camp with heavy fire and black smoke erupting from the blaze.

Multiple causes cannot be ruled out and the fire is undetermined in nature.

At 6:51 p.m., they had another call to a structure fire in the 1900 block of South Madison. This time, they found fire coming from the rear of the property.

They found the blaze in a detached garage and quickly extinguish it.

After a check of the building, once the fire was put out, it’s been determined a space heater was the cause and has been ruled as accidental.
