Amarillo Fire Department Trainees

The Amarillo Fire Department is planning on adding 14 cadets-in-training this November.

The cadets were undergoing live fire training, Thursday involving simulated fires.

AFD officials say structural fires are not necessarily the majority of calls, but they are the most dangerous, and Thursday’s training included basically simulating a basement fire.

More hazardous training in the next few weeks will include hazardous materials and EMT training.

After all the training will lead to a structural Firefighter certification
