Amarillo Fire Department Responds to Early Morning Structure Fire

A Sunday morning structure fire in Amarillo has been determined as a total loss.
The Amarillo Fire Department says at 1:43 am on June 25th they responded to a call at 2304 Southwest 8th Avenue, with a building on fire with people trapped inside; power lines were also said to have been ablaze.
Four trucks were dispatched as well as two command units, and the first truck arrived at 1:49 am.
Crews brought the fire under control by 2:11 am and there were no injuries, but excessive smoke and fire damage led to the total loss.
APD is reminding residents of the importance of smoke and fire detectors and is reminding them to make sure they are working properly.
