Amarillo Crime Statistics Decrease

The City of Amarillo has some positive news when it comes to crime.

The crime report from the F.B.I shows that violent crime has decreased more than 10 percent in 2021 compared to 2020, with lower numbers of robberies and aggravated assaults being the biggest factors.

This is the third consecutive year that crime in Amarillo has decreased.

Credit is going to the APD for focusing on violent crime the past two years by starting a vigorous and immediate response to shooting incidents.

Statistics include while homicides increased in Amarillo from 15 to in 2021, APD solved 18 of the 21 of them

Property crimes decreased 8 per cent last year, with Chief Martin Birkenfeld saying the Department is looking at new projects to address violent crime by using some cutting-edge technology and a Real-Time Crime Center.
