Amarillo College Art Department Seeing Some Well Needed Changes

The Amarillo College Art Department is getting a 2 million dollar makeover.

This is the first time since 1994 the department has been overhauled and the decision is part of a $90 million bond to improve Amarillo College facilities.

The fine arts division of the arts department will soon be located in the lower level of the College Union Building, allowing students to see their peers’ artwork.

Faculty is hopeful this will make art students feel more included in campus life.

The new building will feature completely renovated facilities, including a graphic design studio, painting studio, drawing studio, ceramics room and outdoor kiln yard, as well as faculty offices.

Fine arts facility, students and architects are collaborating to create the most high-tech and useful space for students.

School officials hope to have the revamping makeover done by August 2021.
