Amarillo Child Killed In Truck Crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that four people perished in the crash east of Waelder on July 6that 11:21 a.m.on I-10.

 

DPS officers say the driver of a 2021 Volvo Truck-Tractor was going east on I-10 when it crashed into the back of a 2020 BMW 440, while eastbound traffic stopped for construction. They go on to say the truck-tractor continued smashing into another semi.

 

DPS has identified the Volvo driver as 57-year-old Wade Francis Slagle of Remer, Minnesota and passenger 46-year-old Christy L. Hoffer of Pennsylvania. They were pronounced dead at the scene, as well as the driver and passenger of the 2020 BMW 62-year-old Mona Nesbitt from Lubbock and the 11-year-old from Amarillo.

 

The driver of Hit Freightliner was treated for his injuries at a hospital.

 

The investigation is still ongoing
