Amarillo Apartment Fire

An apartment fire in Amarillo, Monday night left one person in critical condition.

 

Amarillo Fire Department crews got to the apartment complex at West I-40 near Wolflin at 8:25 p.m.

 

There they found a person on the ground of one of the units and smoke showing through the roof of the apartment.

 

AFD swung into action by giving emergency medical care and located the blaze inside the apartment the person has been in.

 

Emergency Medical crews took the person to the hospital, while AFD searched the building, and treated one other person.

 

The Fire Marshals Office has called the fire an accident, caused by smoking while the vistim was wearing breathing apparatus
